Colours

My music magazine theme is heavy metal and rock so i want to keep the colours to a dark theme. i am going to chose three main colours and stick to them throughout the magazine. i have already started thinking about black, light grey and white. i think these three colours will  blend nicely, this then means that the main image and the contents images could be either in black and white or even in colour which would stand out nicely. the background would be black and the writing would be white and in clear bold font so it becomes eye-catching. I think the colours would also make the magazine seem neat and clear and not to complex to read.

Audience Demographics

Audience Demographics is the starting point for launching any new media product. The media need to research vital elements of their target audience, these include: age, gender, employment, hobbies, income and many more to ensure that the product invites the consumer in. By spending time on all this research and finding a better idea, and more insight about what the consumer likes this will become alot easier when the product is launched and will appeal to more of the public and become more eye-catching. so when i release my media product i have designed a questionnaire to ensure that i include what the consumer wants and is vital when it comes down to choosing there magazine which would interest them more and to make my magazine a success.

Uses and Gratifications Theory

Uses and Gratifications Theory is a popular approach to understanding mass communication. The theory places more focus on the consumer, or audience, instead of the actual message itself. The Uses and Gratifications Theory follows a basic model. It is an audience-centered approach. When an audience actively seeks out media, they are typically seeking it in order to gratify a need, the more significant the media becomes to that person. Example: If a customer is interested in metal and rock music, they wouldn't purchase and pop music magazine, they would be able to tell the difference by the image, font, colours, and stories presented on to the front cover. This is why my front cover has to be able to reach out to the correct Target audience.

The Hierarchy Of Needs

Maslows Hierachy of needs is a theory in psychology proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper 'A theory of human motivation' Maslow subsequently extended the idea to include his observations of humans innate curiosity. Maslow's hierarchy of needs represented in the shape of a pyramid, with the largest and lowest needs at the bottom, and the need for self actualization at the top, also the needs for people. the lower four layers of the pyramid contain what Maslow called the 'deficiency needs' if these needs are not met the body gives no physical indication.

Title Of Magazine idea's

METAL-FACE- This title immediately catches the readers attention about the genre of music and the audience the magazine is targeted out. the capital letters stand out and make the title more intimidating and i feel that it makes the reader feels uncomfortable. the dash indicates a break in the title which is more clear to read and adds a bit of tension.

Rock&Roll- This title shows a traditional point of view. everybody has heard this saying once and shows familiarity to the reader, this title i think looks very neat and clear to read. it is quite short so it would be easy to fit in. however it doesn't stand out and could be mistaken for just a quote or saying and not the main title for new readers. This title i feel is nonthreatening and would be suitable for a softer kind of rock music.

Y-This title represents the metal sign created by the hand because it looks like it is in the shape of a Y. this could confuse the reader if they didn't understand what the Y meant. however a the sign would be placed next to or intertwined with the Y to show what it stands for. the Y would have to be made large and in a bold font but also maintained its clearness to read. i am thinking about placing barbwire around it this would create the title to be more threatening and violent which people associate with metal music.

Rebellious- this is my favourite title so far as it matches with the genre of music i think. the word 'Rebellious' looks neat and is a simple and clear word to read. its not to long or to short and would be presented neatly. it could made into a threatening word with different colours and different fonts, however it could be presented as a nonthreatening title but using simple colours and keeping it to a simple font which is clear and comfortable to read. i wouldn't put any patterns or symbols around it because then i would think that it would look to complicated and if i went for this title i would want complexity with the information and images on the front cover.

Core- this title stands for Hardcore but i shortened it to make it more individual and original, this represents the rock and metal genre of music and using the dark colours that i am playing on using would suit this title nicely. it is easy to remember and could have a font used which everyone would see and recognize it immediately if signature colours are used.
